Au3, Red Gum Honey - Eucalyptus camaldulensis
The honey
Red Gum Honey is a bright light amber to pale amber colour and has delicious aromas of the Australian bush after rain. It is full-bodied and has a refreshing fruity eucalyptus flavour with a medium sweetness. It is moderately quick to crystallise.
The Beekeeping
Red Gum (Eucalytpus camaldulensis) is one of Australia’s most widespread and majestic eucalypts. Also known as River Red Gum, these trees grow to 40 metres in height and can be found along rivers, creeks and watercourses. This honey was produced along the Murray Darling in New South Wales.
Interestingly Australia has the worlds largest diversity of single origin honey with more than 780 sub species of eucalypts each producing a distinctly different honey with a different and distinct colour, aroma and flavour. |
