The BeekeepingThe BASA Foundation began its beekeeping operations in 2006 with an initial 80 colonies of Apis mellifera to provide technical support to Bangladeshi beekeepers and to collect high-quality honey. In the same year, BASA launched the Aadi Honey brand that meets international standards, aiming to enhance the popularity, credibility, and demand for Bangladeshi honey.
At present, BASA operates bee farms with 320 colonies, relocating the hives to various regions of Bangladesh based on flower availability. Our honey processing and packaging facility is located at the BASA Training and Research Center (BTRC), Village: Pekua, Upazila: Mirzapur, District: Tangail, Bangladesh. Here, we process and properly store honey that is collected from our own apiaries as well as from affiliated beekeepers. The honey is then bottled in 1000g, 500g, 250g, and 100g containers according to market demand. We also offer honey processing services for other beekeepers using our advanced machinery. BASA Foundation is a non-governmental organization established in 1991, engaged in diverse social development activities across Bangladesh. Since 2006, in pursuit of sustainable development of the apiculture sector, BASA has implemented multiple projects funded by local and international organizations, including the European Union, Winrock International, Land O'Lakes Venture37, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Embassy of Denmark, Standard Chartered Bank, and PKSF. Through these projects, we have provided more than 2,000 beekeepers in both hilly and plain regions with advanced training, modern beekeeping equipment, and necessary machinery. As a result, these beekeepers are now able to produce and market safe, high-quality honey using scientifically sound methods. |
