Ch6, Chestnut Honey

The honey

Chestnut honey, which is made by bees collecting nectar from chestnut flowers, is a high-quality honey.

Pure natural chestnut honey has a dark black or dark amber color, when observed under sunlight or light, it appears dark red. Its viscosity is lower than that of other honeys, and it has a slightly bitter taste with a sweet aftertaste. While it tastes bitter at first, it turns out to be sweet after careful tasting. It is a rare honey that is both bitter at first and sweet afterward. The extraction period for chestnut honey is from the post-Dragon Boat Festival period to mid-July in the Gregorian calendar.

The beekeeping

Deep in Qinling, there is a small city treasured by nature, and the "mad woman, honey valley" brand of honey is produced from one of the world's three major honey sources "the core hinterland of Qinling," the central water tower of Ningxia.

The forest coverage rate here is 96.24%, the amount of negative oxygen ions in the air is beyond the charts, and it is known as a "natural oxygen bar." Walking into Ningshan is like stepping into a green dreamland.

The mountains are splendid and rolling, the green water is winding and moving, the shrubs have many honey sources, the wildflowers bloom freely, and there is a vibrant life everywhere. The bee farmers here have been following ancient and traditional beekeeping techniques for generations, without unduly interfering with the life of the bees. Bees move freely through this natural environment to gather the essence of a hundred flowers.

From wildflowers that flood the mountains in early spring, to mountain flowers that bloom in summer, to the colorful flowers of Chinese herbal medicine in autumn, every drop of nectar contains Qinling's rich plant code.
