Ch8, Nileke Black Bee Honey
The honey
Crafted by Xinjiang Black Bees (one of the world’s four premier bee species) from pristine mountain blossoms across the Tianshan Mountains (1,800–2,500m elevation), Nileke Wildflower Honey epitomizes natural excellence with its light amber hue, viscous texture, and harmonious blend of herbal fragrance and silky sweetness. Sourced from 260+ wildflower species—including 76 medicinal plants like Codonopsis pilosula, motherwort, and thyme within a 4-million-mu (≈267,000-hectare) protected ecosystem—this polyfloral honey delivers unmatched nutritional richness: abundant glucose, fructose, minerals, vitamins, amylase activity, and oligosaccharides, coupled with moisture content ≤17% and amylase activity 5.91× above national standards. Exclusively harvested between July 10–August 10 under strict sustainable protocols (single-batch extraction only from fully capped honeycombs post-blossom), it is revered across Xinjiang’s ethnic communities for enhancing immunity, regulating digestion, combating fatigue, protecting the liver, and promoting restorative sleep, embodying the convergence of ecological purity, ancestral wisdom, and scientifically validated potency.
The beekeeping
Xinjiang Breeding Base Black Bee Apiculture Co., Ltd. is a state-owned integrated enterprise primarily focused on agriculture, with combined operations in farming, animal husbandry, and apiculture. Strategically located at the core of Tangbula Grassland—98 km east of Nileke County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture—it serves as Xinjiang’s largest conservation base for Xinjiang Black Bees, Asia’s premier queen bee breeding ground, and China’s sole national-level Xinjiang Black Bee Reserve and Genetic Conservation Center.
Situated at 2,430 meters above sea level, the area features mountainous grasslands bordered by Tangbula Grassland (east), Wulastai Town (west), the biodiverse Aburele Mountains (south), and Borokonu Mountains (north), with the Kashi River meandering through its continental north-temperate climate zone (avg. 3.2°C, 2,807 hrs sunshine, 500-700mm rainfall, 90 frost-free days). Hosting 205 beekeeper households (507 individuals) managing 30,000 bee colonies, it produces over 500 tons of raw honey annually (¥25M output value), supported by 12 honey processors (including one ¥10M+ enterprise), 1 apitourism firm, and 2 beekeeping cooperatives empowering 100+ beekeeper households. |
