DK5, Bell Heather Honey
The honey
Bell heather has a very sweet and mild taste and at the same time, a high content of fruit sugars, making it one of the only plants that produces runny honey.
The beekeeping
My name is Bo Petersen and I live in South Funen (see map), where I have been a hobby beekeeper since 2013. Back then, I started with a few hives, and now I have about 30 hives. I keep bees in the city, in the forest, and in orchards to get honey with different flavors.
However, it is not until July that I move some of my bees 200 km to the west to reach parts of the Danish heath where heather grows, and where bell heather also thrives in the moist areas of the heath. Bo Petersen |
