This wild raspberry honey comes from an apiary in the southeast of Finland, between the lake Saimaa and the country border. Due to forestry, wild raspberry flourishes in the logged openings of woodlands, and gives honeybees an abundance of nectar.
Anu and Timo Tanskanen take care of around 20 hives in three apiaries in the rural villages, surrounded with forests, lakesides, country gardens and moderate farming. All their honey is sold from the farm, in local events or chosen local stores. All our apiaries are protected with electric fences for the bears. During the 10-year-beekeeping so far only one hive has been demolished by a bear. The local people say: “There is one bear in every corner of the forest”. We know that bears see us, although we rarely see them. |
