Ge2, Raspberry Honey
The honey
The bees produce raspberry blossom honey when they have been able to collect a sufficiently high nectar portions from the raspberry blossom (Rubus idaeus). This is possible in established and extensive raspberry cultures. Nowadays in most cases, however, this type of honey comes from forest areas with open spaces, as a result of storm damage or through deforestation. Masses of wild raspberries often settle in these forest clearings. The bee colonies are then moved to profitable locations in consultation with the forestry administration.
The raspberry blossoms from May to July. The flowers are very attractive to honeybees due to the high sugar content of the abundantly secreted nectar. Its colour is light yellow in the liquid state, crystallised it is very light to almost white. Its odour and taste are characterised by a subtle fruity aroma. The beekeeping
Master of beekeeping H. Schnitker harvested this honey in July 2025. The honey comes from the western part of Germany, more precisely from Arnsberg in the “Sauerland” region. This is a densely wooded low mountain range landscape around 500 metres above sea level.
