La2, Heather Honey
The honey
Common heather (Calluna vulgaris) fields are uncommon in Latvia, mostly found in nutrient-poor pine forests, making heather honey a limited and highly valued harvest. We bring around 100 hives to Ādaži municipality, where there is no agricultural land where we collect monofloral heather honey. It is the last honey to be collected, usually mid-september.
The moisture rate is from 16-18%. A strong intensity flavor profile, with herbal and bittersweet notes. Viscosity is gel-like with thixotropic properties. The beekeeping
We at “Lielvaicēni” farm have been professional beekeepers since 1992. We work with around 300 hives, and we are a cooperative member of “Kurland Honey ”. We work with honey production, queen rearing, bee bread production, and wax frame production.
The farm is located in Zemgale, in the border region near Lithuania. As beekeepers we work with Danish buckfast and Carnica queens. Most of the produce is sold in bulk. https://www.facebook.com/lielvaiceni |
