No6, Mountain Honey
The honey
This honey is a summer honey, harvested the 30th of June and slinged few days later. The honey was naturally dried in the beehives. It had a water content of 17 % when it was slinged, and it has been stirred.
The honey can contain nectar from for example dandelions, white clovers, blueberries, lingonberries or wild raspberries. It is also small occurrences of lilacs and apple trees in the area. The Beekeeping
This honey come from beekeeping in Ål municipality in the south of Norway, in an area reserved for the beekeeping of brown bees. The area is not traditionally used for beekeeping, and the activity was started in 2017. This is my eighth year as a beekeeper, and I now have sixteen beehives. I gain knowledge from experienced beekeepers and from older literature.
The area is an agricultural and forestry area, with pastures and fields. Where the forest is cut down, the area becomes rich in species like wild raspberries, fireweed, blueberries and lingonberries. The beehives are placed at different sites from approximately 400 to 800 meters above sea level. The bees originate mainly from bees bought in Treungen in Telemark county, where they have approximately the same flora as in our area. Ove Møn
